About Save Our Strays Fort Myers Beach

Founded by Jo Knobloch,  Save Our Strays Feline Rescue Fort Myers Beach is a non-profit (501C3) for cats in Fort Myers Beach, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Naples, Estero, Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte, Florida. Jo almost single-handedly cares for the homeless/stray cat population of SWFL and seeks the help of anyone who can lend a hand in any way, whether it’s feeding one of the colonies, donating cat food/litter, or fostering those who can be adopted.

Our Founder

Our founder Jo Knobloch has been a resident of Fort Myers Beach for years. Prior to living the island lifestyle, she was a big-city business executive and business owner. Eight years ago, after selling off her companies for a more relaxed environment, and always an avid animal lover, she offered a hand with Lee County Animal Services’ “Trap, Neuter, Release” program when it first began, to help the stray cat situation along the south end of the island. That volunteering gesture led Joann to, for the most part, end up taking care of the entire stray cat colony/homeless cat complication of the island ever since.

Our Mission

Every day, Jo stops at multiple locations throughout Estero and San Carlos islands to feed and care for the hundreds of homeless/stray cats, as well as trap, spay/neuter and release those who haven’t yet been fixed or sometimes even foster to adopt.
